Pas mal de sorties pour le groupe allemand DIE UNTOTEN qui persévère depuis des années dans un style gothic/dark wave vampirique: sortie de la quatrième partie des "Grabsteinland" intitulée "Die schwarze Feder", disponible en version limitée à 3000 copies comprenant 5 bonus tracks. Un Album acoustique voit également le jour sous le titre "Akustisch - Des Raben Flug". Concernant le side projet SOKO FRIEDHOF, un nouvel album intitulé "Totengraber" vient également de sortir.

Sortie du huitième album des cultes Katatonia qui s'intitule "The night is the new day". L'album est disponible en format LP limité à 1000 copies. Pour l'occasion, Peaceville réédite une partie de la discographie de Katatonia, notamment le premier album culte "Dance of december's soul" alors dans un style doom/black. Un mini-site a été crée pour le nouvel album:
Soulsteal oeuvre dans le doom et propose sa première demo intulée "Mirror is a lonely place". Le groupe vient de Chypre et existe depuis en 2001 mais est resté inactif plusieurs années.
LARRNAKH est un jeune projet émergeant dans la nouvelle scène hongroise dark folk aux côtés de CAWATANA et des excellents STURMAST avec qui son principal membre Gergö collabore occasionnellement.
Serotonal est le nouveau groupe de Darren White, le premier chanteur de Anathema (sur Crestfallen ep, Serenades, Pentecost III), qui avait fondé The Blood Divine à son départ d'Anathema, puis par la suite d'autres projets passés plus ou moins inaperçus. Le premier album s'intitule "Monumental - Songs of Misery and Hope" et sortira fin novembre sur le label anglais Union Black Records.

AL NAMROOD, groupe de black metal d'Arabie Saoudite, annonce la sortie de son premier véritable album (11 titres, 54 minutes), après plusieurs mini-cd et splits.
WEDARD, projet de black metal atmosphérique dépressif allemand, annonce la sortie imminente d'un nouveau split sous forme de digipack limité et de LP, avec le groupe français de black dépressif NOCTURNAL DEPRESSION.
ARCKANUM est décidément toujours d'actualité ces temps-ci avec la sortie d'un nouvel ep intitulé Þyrmir comprenant un inédit datant des sessions de ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ ainsi qu'une fois encore une reprise. Le précédent ep de l'époque de Antikosmos proposait une reprise du groupe de thrash allemand Holy Moses, cette fois-ci c'est le vieux groupe de heavy doom américain Pentagram qui est mis à l'honneur. Ce nouvelle production sort à nouveau sur le label français Debemur Morti qui sortira à cette même occasion les rééditions remasterisées tant attendues des trois premiers albums de Arckanum. Shamaatae exprime d'ailleurs son entière satisfaction les concernant, et précise par contre qu'il s'était opposé aux rééditions précédentes en 2008 sur Full Moon Productions à cause de leur mauvaise qualité. Ce conflit sur des sorties de Arckanum fait écho au boycott par Shamaatae de la box vynils sortie il y a quelques temps.
Un nouveau projet de qualité émerge dans la mouvance dark folk martial avec TriORE, qui n'est autre, comme son nom le suggère, qu'un projet entre Tomas Pettersson de Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio et Christian Erdmann de Triarii, qui prolonge ainsi la collaboration entamée en 2005 sur l'album "Piece Heroique" de Triarii par le morceau "Roses for Rome". Ce premier album s'intitule "Three Hours", et est une double collaboration niveau label entre l'incontournable Cold Meat Industry et Eternal Soul. Le projet est défini comem de l'"Art Deco Industrial Pop"...

Grieving Age est une jeune formation de doom/death inspiré par les premiers My Dying Bride et Anathema formé en 2003, venant d'Arabie Saoudite, un pays où oeuvrer dans les scènes underground n'est pas chose facile et demande un certain courage, loin des phénomènes de mode de chez nous. "In Aloof Lantern, Thy Bequeathed A Wailer Quietus" est sorti fin juillet et est distribué par Lugga Music. Ce premier album a été produit par Dan Swano (Edge of Sanity), et l'ensemble de l'artwork a été ralisé par Aaron de My Dying Bride.

D'intéressantes nouveautés sur le label post-industriel Cold Spring:
- All Hail the Transcending Ghost : un projet réunissant Henrik Nordvarkr Bjorkk (Mz 412, Tororidh, Folkstorm) et Tim Bertilsson (Fear Falls Burning, Switchblade). Cette collaboration a abouti a du Drone-dark-ambient-industrial et serait une rencontre entre du vieux Nordvarkr et les guitares infernales sludge doom de Tim.
- Nouvel album de H.E.R.R. (Ambient neo-classique spoken word) basé sur le livre "De vita Caesarum" de Suetonius, abordant pour l'occasion la vie d'une douzine d'Empereur romain avec son lot d'excès et de cruauté.
- Nouvel album pour les italiens de Rose Rovine e Amente qui s'intitule Demian, problameent en référence à l'imposant livre de Hermann Hess, qui avait justement déjà servi de concept au side projet de H.E.R.R: Seelenblut. Ce nouvel album du projet italien est présenté comme une mixture de Neo-folk-rock et d'influences méditerranéenes. Le Livret propose quand à lui des dessins inédits de l'artiste bulgare Emil Ivanov Saparevski.
- Enfin, l'album "Victory or death" de Folkstorm, la référence en harsh power industriel, se voit rééditer. Cette seconde version est remasterisée et propose un nouvel artwork.
Le prochain Paradise Lost sortira fin septembre sur Century Media et s'intitule "Faith divides us, Death unites us". Un coffret limité à 500 copies est disponible en précommande, et comprendra un double CD format digibook avec surtout en bonus un 7'ep de "Frozen Illusion" qui est à la base la deuxième demo du groupe sortie en 1989, ce qui fait donc echo à "Drown in darkness" sorti en mai et qui regroupait les deux demos du groupe ainsi qu'un bootleg de 1989. Paradise Lost semble donc de plus en plus revaloriser son glorieux passé, et bonifier en même temps sa musique...

Après deux albums sur le label français Debemur Morti Productions, ARCKANUM va enfin rééditer sur ce label ses trois premiers albums cultes, "Fran Marder" (1995), "Kostogher" (1997) et "Kampen" (1998), chacun en version digibook qui sortiront le 28/08/2009. Ces albums initialement sortis sur le label américain Necropolis avait déjà été réédités de façon limitée en 2008 par Full Moon Productions.

Le premier enregistrement longue durée de AMESTIGON, après plusieurs eps et splits, s'intitule "Sun of all suns" et sortira de façon surprenante sur le label autrichien Hau Ruck, le label tenu par Albin Julius de Der Blutharsch spécialisé dans la scène industrielle/dark folk. Ce sera donc la première sortie black metal (et même metal) sur le label.
Pour rappel, Amestigon est un groupe culte de la première scène black autrichienne, fondé en 1993 par Tharen (Dargaard, Dominion III, et premier chanteur d'Abigor période des demos), qui a également eu Thurisaz (membre fondateur, 3ème chanteur d'Abigor) et PK (Abigor) dans ses rangs et qui compte actuellement la participation de Silenius au chant (Summoning, Kreuzweg Ost, chanteur également dans Abigor sur les 4 premiers albums) et de Lanz, membre de Dominon III et guitariste live des formations industrielles Allerseelen et Der Blutharsch.
Le label culte suédois Cold Meat Industry annonce deux nouvelles sorties:
- la réédition du premier album de GOLGOTHA, à l'origine autoproduit
- le premier album de AETERNA "New dawn" qui fait dans le registre de l'apocalyptic folk martial. Ce projet allemand né en 2007 est en fait l'oeuvre de la photographe Birthe Klementowski qui a travaillé avec Cold Meat pour des pochettes.
True Love Entertainment est un jeune label allemand ecclectique qui vient de rééditer (en collaboration avec Revolvermann Records) en format Double-LP le premier album du groupe de post-rock irlandais GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT "The end of the beginning" initialement sorti en 2002, disponible en 500 exemplaires dont 100 avec vynil orange transparent.

Encore une nouvelle production pour le très productif one-man band australien de black metal lugubre STRIBORG. Il s'agit cette fois d'un split ep avec le groupe portuguais émergent DEFUNTOS qui s'intitule ''Florestas De Perpétua Solidão'', limité à 500 copies et contenant un long morceau inédit de chacune des formations. Cet ep sort sur le label français Infernal Kommando dont c'est la première production Ep en collaboration avec les lables Sabbath's Fire (France) et Dunkelheit (Allemagne).

Ostra Records, label français plutôt axé doom, propose une réédition LP limité à 400 copies de l'album de BETHLEHEM Dictius te Necare sorti en 1996, disponible en septembre avec une nouvelle pochette et remasterisé.
Une version très limitée à 100 copies sera également proposée et contiendra en plus un t-shirt exclusif de Bethlehem, ainsi qu'un tribute album cd réalisé pour l'occasion, également disponible indépendemment.

Le septième album annoncé sera le dernier album de Dark Sanctuary, et le concert de Londres en octobre sera le dernier, puisque Dark Sanctuary va se mettre en veille. Le groupe de dark atmospheric ramené dernièrement à 5 membres après le départ de la section violons, n'exclue pas une possible reformation si l'envie s'en fait sentir, ni des sorties comportants des inédits et des morceaux de concerts. Quoiqu'il en soit, certains membres vont se consacrer désormais pleinement à leur side projet. Voici le communiqué complet officiel de Dark Sanctuary diffusé le 27/07/2009:
"After 13 years of existence and 7 albums, the band has decided to have a break for an indefinite duration. It goes without saying that this decision was not taken without due consideration and that we have been thinking about it for more than a year now. The different events of these last months, the line-up changing, the delay of our new album and more aside, have induced us to chance our course.
The reasons of this choice are multiple. We are not as young as we were at the beginning of this adventure and it is unfortunately more and more difficult to combine our private lives, our professional careers, and in the same way to find time for Dark Sanctuary, whether it is for the writing, recording, rehearsing of the music or for the concerts. Moreover, we all feel the necessity to explore other shores musically speaking, and to do so we need to break a bit away from the restraints that Dark Sanctuary lays down on us, preventing us to devote all of our time to our different side-projects.
This new album will consequently be the last one that we will record with Dark sanctuary. However, other pieces of our former recordings, that were previously unreleased, or may be live recordings should eventually be available between 2010 and 2011.
Moreover, after a long dialogue, we have finally decided to give only one single concerts in 2009, the last one that we will ever do with Dark Sanctuary. Firstly for the pleasure to play live, but also for the persons who wanted to see us live for one last time or for those who had never had the occasion to come to one of our concerts.
At the present time, we have no idea of what tomorrow will be made of, though it is likely for us to feel the need to come back to Dark Sanctuary in 3, 5 or even 10 years, but we cannot insist on this idea with certainty. Yet, one thing is absolutely sure: we won't stop music for all that, and most of us already have musical projects.

Le groupe de pagan metal urkrainien KRODA a été attaqué par un commando d'extrême-gauche, lors de la préparation de son concert à Varsovie en Pologne, manifestement intolérant vis à vis du paganisme et de l'attrait pour les racines culturelles, se contentant d'amalgames simplistes et absurdes ("avec nous ou contre nous") et de la volonté d'instrumentaliser les musiques undergrounds. Cet événement fait un triste echo à l'attaque dont le groupe neo-folk Camerata Mediolanense avait été victime en Suisse également avant un concert.
Voici le communiqué diffusé par KRODA le 30 juin:
"Witch-hunt and holy inquisition?!
As everyone should already know, in the beginning of European mini-tour, KRODA band was attacked by a bunch of jackals before the gig in Warsaw, Poland. We were changing our clothes dressing in concert uniform and just took away our stuff from mini-bus in the street near club. At this time, rain of glass bottles fell upon us... Right then, attackers used pepper-sprays and tried to beat us by telescopic cudgels. They were in red and black masks and shouted «AFA!», so we’ve made a conclusion about what subculture they belong to.
Before this event, we were not too interested in this movement, but after things that happened, we studied their websites deeper. We have found there a lot of mentions about our band defined as NSBM. It would be good to make a brief digression to the history of music (not for antifa, but for listeners of Pagan Metal, and Metal music in general).
It seems antifa don’t know what is NSBM, if they use this stereotype towards our band. NSBM are bands like DER STURMER or THOR'S HAMMER, for example; i.e. formations where basic themes are political and social aspects, aesthetics of Third Reich etc. But KRODA (even purely stylistics-wise) is Pagan Metal. In difference from NSBM, in Pagan Metal (just look at the name, it’s obvious) there’s no political component. Lyrical side of Pagan Metal is Antiquity, Traditionalism, Ancestral Roots Pride (those able to read – just look at KRODA texts published on our official site). And still we want to say that our group is OUT of modern politics.
During the last time, Metal scene is infiltrated by left-side punks with their poor, perverted understanding of metal and its aesthetics. Their knowledge about facts and concepts of metal genres are narrow, but despite their profanity, those people (practically aliens to metal subculture) are trying to dictate their ultimatum conditions to Metal bands; trying to sort the bands (according to their "punk" concepts) and separate them into "correct" and "incorrect". And the bands, defined by those conceptually/politically/musically incompetent marginals as “non-correct”, are exposed to physical and psychological attacks of "anti-fascists". In general, those antifa “people” don’t listen to Metal music at all, but they already wish to dictate what music we have to play, what we must sing, what gigs we can go to, and which concerts are not to be visited. They command to zines, distributors and labels – who must be boycotted, and who are to be promoted. They know nothing about the concept of our creativity, but their sick ideas make them desperately try to prevent our gigs, try to beat fans of Pagan Metal at random; aspire to harm musicians in every possible way, to trouble us, damage our stuff, cars, instruments, our Metal clubs and concert equipment. They act like a riot rampage gang, while their official propaganda is anti-violence. They struggle for something like equality, but in fact, someone is «more equal» for them. Everywhere, they declare their aspiration to preserve another cultures, but at the same time they promote destruction of own European culture in every possible way. Those people stepped too far and lost the feeling of reality. They are just lazy fuckers who want nothing to do, so they seek the enemies everywhere, suspicious to any runic inscription on T-shirts, disks etc. They are going to continue their insolent dictate and force us all to accept their idiotic "conditions" and "demands". The only thing they understand is brutal force. Until Pagan Metal fans, bands and gigs promoters/organizers are tolerate this leftist riot, it will just grow, though even here and now this is almost a red terror.
Everyone who obediently agrees with cancels and impossibility of fave bands gigs, everyone who estimate the "conditions" dictated by aggressive bunch of shameless red hooligans, everyone who directly or indirectly submits to the "regime” those strangers try to impose to the whole Pagan Metal scene – they all just unwillingly support the further escalation of this brutal tyranny and oppression of our interests.
Today, some punk scum dictate you what music you have to listen, what concerts to visit, what clothes is “allowed to wear” and what is “prohibited”, what bands we can act with and who are “wrong” - tomorrow they will ask you for report what you eat, what books do you read, what do you think about, what words did you say, with whom do you make love, where do you live and how much money you earn. We are the only ones to take back our right to listen the music we want, to go to the gigs we wish to visit.
If you want to be yourself and act following your heart – so it’s time to say "stop" to antifa riot in Pagan Metal.
It’s time to be self-organized and strike back in reply to any act of insolent leftists. Let it be tradition and a rule among your friends to come at gigs together, in well-organized SOBER groups. Watch the concert hall. By yourself, kick antifa spies away from halls and clubs, kick away every boor trying to confuse you when you listening to music. If those people don’t respect our rights, our fave bands and our Ancestral Faith – so it’s their own guilt, and we don’t wanna tolerate their intervention anymore. In the street you must always have all the self-defense stuff allowed in your country. If someone try to attack - you have a right to self-defense, to use all the possible means to protect yourself and your relatives. Having some times received a strong straight repulse from numerous Pagan Metal fans, red ass bastards will think thrice – is it good idea to make us trouble next time. Let them protect gay-parades and rastafarian marches. If that brainless goblins consider scientific terms "Aryan" and "Race" associated with "fascism", if traditional European Runes and Sunwheels are "nazism" – so let them not even try to discuss the themes of Black and Pagan Metal at all.
Summing up: We call all the listeners, musicians, labels, zines connected with Pagan and Black Metal to answer every antifa boycott of our music and bands with counter boycott. Don’t let them manipulate you! Don’t let them to destroy Pagan Metal subculture and our European traditional culture. Strike them back on psychological and bureaucratic level, as well as by physical action. Gangs of that scum must be recognized as criminal and determined as «outlaw» as they already done it with you for a long time. Guilty will be punished.
