The return to the Isle of Men

In The Woods est de retour après avoir stoppé toute activité après un dernier concert donné le 29 December 2000 à Kristiansand (Norvège) et édité sous forme d'un double album en 2003 intitulé Live at the Caledonien Hall. Ce retour prendra la forme d'une suprenante collaboration avec le label français Debemur Morti qui semble depuis quelques sorties s'éloigner de l'étiquette black metal qui a fait sa renommé.

In The Woods a émergé de Norvège au début des années 90, oeuvrant alors dans un black metal très atmosphérique avec la demo Isle of Men et surtout le premier album magistral Heart of the Ages, sorti en 1995 sur Misanthropy Records. Par la suite, In The Woods a quitté la sphère du black pour quelques chose de plus progressif avec Omnio en 1997 et Strange in Stereo en 1999. In The Woods repartirait de compositions élaborées en 1999 et non achevées. A noter que, les jumeaux Botteri, à la base de In The Woods avait intégré Green Carnation (metal progressif pas très captivant avec Tchort ex-Emperor), le temps du premier album Light of Day, Day of Darkness en 2000, projet dont les deux frères faisaient déjà partie du temps de la demo de 1991 et donc avant In The Woods.

Le line-up du retour incluera trois membres d'origine : les deux jumeaux Botteri, le batteur Anders Koro (batteur de Carpathian Forest depuis 1999), accompagés de nouveaux membres puisque le guitariste d'origine Oddvar A:M est décédé en 2013 et le chanteur est parti vers d'autres horizons musicaux.

"The woods are full of trees, some old, some not. Some have been cut down, some recycled, and some are still standing, defying the harshness of the nature. This goes for the Kristiansand-based band as well. Some of the trees have decided to rear their ugly heads once again, with a battle plan including the recording of a two album concept. This was allready back in 1999 ready for completion but for obvious reasons was left behind after the bands decision to discontinue In the Woods."

We announced in August that the band is now working on new albums (a lot of material was already written back in 1999-2000, that never was recorded due to obvious reasons). Now, 14 years later we finally got back together and decided to continue In The Woods... from where we left it. We are super excited to finally continue doing what we love to do and we will do so with more entusiasm and creativity than ever before. That In The Woods... now is so fortunate to be able to work with such a dedicated label as Debumur Morti Productions is for us a privelegium. For In The Woods..., having the confidence and security that our future works will be taken care of by gentlemen who share the passion and love of the art of music as we do is of the utmost importance. And all this from which was, that did become again! We raise the horns up high and shout loud SKÅL!".
