Peter Bjargo a décidé de dissoudre la formule actuelle de ARCANA et de poursuivre en solo. C'est un peu paradoxal puisque Arcana est à la base le projet de Peter, unique compositeur de Arcana, qui a étoffé au fil des ans le line-up, allant jusqu'à conduire Peter a sortir en parallèle des projets solo pourtant peu éloignés du style de Arcana. Voici le comumiqué du 11 octobre :
"I have been thinking about this for a long time, and haves comed to the conclution that I need to make some drastic changes in Arcana in order to continue. For a long time I have felt uninspired and stagnated, when it comes to the songs and sound of Arcana. With such great musicians and people that are, and have been, in the Arcana ”line-up”, comes a responsibility to bring them into their own light, which also ,of course,colors the sound of Arcana. We have done some amazing work together, which I am truly grateful for. But it’s time for change… Reason: Survival. I need to go back deep down the roots and discover for starting this project, to search for the feel, thought and mind-set that made me start this, twenty years ago. I would like to thank all the people that have been involved in Arcana, and the all the people that have been supporting us throughout the years. The performance in Belin 2014 will be the last in this shape. So, as of now, the line-up of Arcana is dissolved. Love to all."
Saluons cette décision d'un grand artiste car si le dernier album en date, As Bright as a Thousand Suns sorti en 2012, était certes bon, un renouvellement s'imposait clairement et un retour à plus d'intensité également. Arcana, crée en 1996 par Peter, était originellement un duo avec Ida Bengtsson au chant qui a quitté le projet après les 3 premiers albums qui ont établi Arcana comem une référence dans le dark atmospheric. Force est de reconnaitre que cette époque de Arcana est restée ingalable, tout comme le chant de Ida, même si Peter n'a cessé d'agrandir son line-up (6 membres en 2012 incluant le duo espagnol de Der Blaue Reiter pour les live). Les 2 albums composés par Peter sous son patronyme sont au final très proches de Arcana mais de qualité. Le concert de novembre à Berlin aura donc été le dernier pour Arcana, du moins pour cette deuxième époque, et aura été marqué par l'absence de Ann-Marie Thim, chanteuse principale de Arcana depuis 2001, pour raisons de santé. Cécilia Bjärgo, femme de Peter, aura donc été la chanteuse principale ce soir là. Voici une vidéo du concert avec un morceau de l'excellent Dark age of reason.
